The Pope County Senior Activity Center will have their Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday November, 25th with two seatings. The first at 11:00 am and the second to follow at noon. The Russellville Chriatmas Parade will be held Thursday, December 4th at 6:30 p.m. All parade participants must submit an entry form. Call 479-968-1272 for more information. The deadline for entry in December 1st at noon.

The Dardanelle Christmas Parade will be held on December 5th, on Union Street and Front Street. Everyone is welcome to participate at NO CHARGE! Call 229-3325 for more information or log on to www.dardanellechamber.com.

The London Masonic Lodge #339 is having a country breakfast on December 6th from 6am-11am. Adult tickets are $5.00 and children 12 and under $3.00. Come to London Masonic Lodge and enjoy a good breakfast and a good visit with your friends and neighbors.

The annual River Valley Snowflake Pageant will be held on Saturday December 13th at the new Pottsville Junior HIgh School Cafeteria on Pine Ridge Road and Apache Lane. The Pope County Literacy Council and the Spanish Club at ATU are offering a free English Class with small groups at 1000 South Arkansas Avenue, on the south end of the second floor. Classes are held each Thursday from 5-7pm. Call 967-7323 for more information.

Kroger in-store pharmacies will expand its generic drug program offering customers lower prices and additional drug choices to meet their health needs. The retailer is offering 90-day prescriptions for only $10 on its expanded generic drug program. For more information about the expanded program call 1-877-479-5478.

The River Valley Christian Clinic has doctors available on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. Patients will be seen beginning at 6:00pm on these days . Call 479-229-2566 or toll free 1-877-229-3450 for more information on how you can retrieve an application. 

The Clarksville-Johnson County Development Foundation has a program called "Free Rides For Senior Citizens" for seniors 62 and older. The program provides transportation free of charge to the following locations; food pantry, grocery and drug stores twice a week, and hospital, and doctors office unlimited times to locations in Clarksville, Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 a.m.. Seniors 62 and older can call 214-2512 for a ride.

If you would like to learn first hand about another culture without leaving the United States Pacific Intercultural Exchange has international exchange students from over 40 countries arriving into the area for home stay programs. All students are English speaking, have their own spending money, and carry accidental and health insurance. Prospective host families are able to review student applications in order to select the perfect match. The non-profit organization is looking for a few more caring host families to share the American way of life. The Russellville Adult Education Center offers free classes to earn high school diplomas, basic computer skills, as well as classes to learn English. Language and refresher reading classes, math and language skills class are also available. For more information call 968-5244.
 
Every Tuesday and Saturday at the Lake Dardanelle State Park is feeding time for the fish in the large aquarium display at the visitor center. The park staff feeds the fish at 1:30 and all are welcome to come watch. 

Pope County Literacy Council is offering various classes including citizenship classes, computer classes, and individual tutoring. The Local Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans provides transportation to the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Little Rock for veterans who have an appointment. The van leaves at 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 208 South Pittsburgh. For more information call 968-1665.

Marijuana Anonymous, or “MA” is opening a new chapter in the area and is looking for a meeting place. “MA” is a non-profit organization, therefore a very low rental fee is preferred. For more information, call 501-606-6277.

Attention River Valley Seniors---The Area Agency on Aging has a limited number of air conditioners and fans available to seniors who are suffering with the heat. To qualify for the air conditioner, you cannot have a working air conditioner now. The fans can be given to anyone who has a need. Call 967-9300 to request an air conditioner or a fan.
